Our Mission

Wrong Way is a volunteer collective that combats democratic backsliding from establishment institutions. Our goal is to reinforce the institutions that protect democracy and erode those that threaten it.

Our Team

We are a community of Washington D.C. based staff that have been as frustrated as the rest of the country with the lack of accountability, dishonesty, corruption, capitulation, nepotism, and frankly stupidity from the institutions that claim to be for a democratic America. What we see up close everyday is even worse than what the rest of the country thinks is happening. So we can keep our eyes from the inside at our day jobs, we maintain anonymity for all our staff and contributors. Rest assured, we work in the beltway— not for it.

Our Approach

Our approach brings together rigorous policy research, deep knowledge of the people and places that make policy, and sophisticated analysis designed to shine light on the dark money and special interests of elected officials and policy influencers ruining our country. Our organization is strongly motivated by holding the prominent centrist billionaire backed think tank Third Way accountable. But we do not intend to stop there.

We stand to correct the degradation of the working class no matter who the perpetrator.

As passionate policy analysts our work is not about splitting the difference but about standing for a values-driven politics that can both deliver for the American people and drive meaningful policy change. We believe in building an economy that rewards hard work, making progress on social issues to uphold our fundamental freedoms, winning the global clean energy technology race, and securing our safety against evolving 21st century threats.

Our Work

All of Wrong Way’s policy and watch dog work is:

Principled. We are motivated by a deep love of country grounded in the mainstream American values of equality of opportunity, security, freedom, and a commitment to democracy.

Precise. We design our work to resonate with those who want to change this country for the better but do not have the resources to combat the elite power games that always have a majority in government but never have a majority in the working class.

Pragmatic. We value progress over purity tests, pursue solutions that are not only ambitious but affordable and actionable, believe in Main Street not Wall Street, insist on results that work in the real world, and take pride in our ability to deftly navigate complex policy and political terrain.
